Floyd Mayweather Jr. opting to lose by default?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. opting to lose by default?

In an article from SuperSports, Floyd Mayweather Jr. violated a court order by US Federal Magistrate Judge Robert Johnston by failing to appear for deposition last Friday, June 17 in connection to the defamation lawsuit filed against him by boxer Manny Pacquiao. This defamation lawsuit was filed by Pacquiao last December 2009 in U.S. District Court in Nevada.

Earlier, Mayweather asked to move the scheduled deposition to a later date but that was denied by the court. Mayweather's avoidance of the deposition proceeding might be interpreted that he has no defense against the defamation charges and he has no solid proof on his alleged accusations against Manny Pacquiao regarding use of performance enhancing drugs.

Mayweather's lawyer pointed out the he has to concentrate on preparations for his September 17 fight with Victor Ortiz. That's about 12 weeks from now. His lawyers stated that Mayweather will be available for deposition after September 17.

From this recent turn of events, there's a chance that Floyd Mayweather Jr. loses by default in this defamation case unless the court grant him more time and Mayweather willing to state his side under oath in the court.
